STUDIO OINK x SUPERFRONT

This summer, we had the privilege of working on a very special project: our own kitchen for our country home. When SUPERFRONT approached us about a potential collaboration, we were initially a bit hesitant. However, we soon realized that this inquiry was a stroke of fate—and a perfect opportunity! When people think of interior designers and new kitchen planning, they often picture kitchen showrooms or custom-made units with astronomical price tags. While that can certainly be the case, there is another way. SUPERFRONT offers specialized fronts, handles, furniture legs, countertops, and more designed for IKEA base units—and they have been doing so since 2013, well before other companies jumped on the bandwagon. SUPERFRONT’s proposal gave us the chance to demonstrate the value of hiring an interior designer: you don’t always need a top-tier luxury kitchen to achieve a high-quality, personalized result. The kitchen is built on IKEA modules, which are transformed into something high-end and bespoke with SUPERFRONT fronts and handles. That concept isn't new in itself. However, our design gave this small kitchen a more exclusive look—you could say we added the jewelry and the crown to the perfect outfit. A Rosso Lepanto marble countertop produced by Serafini in a deep purplish-red creates an elegant stage and adds a subtle splash of color. A glass serving hatch and strategically placed bronze-tinted mirror surfaces create a sense of volume, intriguing reflections, and a soft, underlying shimmer. The kitchen’s atmosphere is calm, earthy, elegant, and timeless. We designed this kitchen with the intention of passing it on to our sons one day—preserving that same luster and quality. It is framed by "Tumble," a beautiful, soothing wall paint from Bauwerk Colour. This kitchen now graces our 200-year-old half-timbered house, and it couldn't be a more perfect fit. We are very happy to have seized this opportunity. It showcases our work, our repertoire, and our creative approach in a very intimate way.
